San Francisco is magic. Even after having grown up in the bay region and living here for most of my adult life, I always stop regularly on my traces to marvel at its beauty. And during a recent stay at the Royal Son Francisco Clift, I found the ideal place to fall in love with San Francisco again.
Things to know
Located right next to Union Square, the hotel has a first place in the historic heart of the city. While the surrounding area is experiencing a retail trade, the area is still feeling alive. I found a lot of fun things to do at a distance from walking, and the central location also gave me easy access to public transport in San Francisco. Another bonus: the hotel is very close to the cable car, which is an experience not to be missed (even for the inhabitants).

Other criticisms
I am not the only fan of this hotel. Tripadvisor users give him 4.5 out of 5, and more to kayak, the former guests note it very well.
The hotel
I love the design of urban hotels, especially those that are a little older. Unlike houses, which are often updated in a fragmentary way, hotels focus on overview. The clift has been recently updated, but has retained many design details that make the old San Francisco special buildings, things like double hanging windows, the stylized elevator panel and the old slot machines. The update has transformed the hall, which seems modern, fun and welcoming; During my stay, he was always busy with people taking advantage of the welcoming space to socialize or work.
The hotel staff were also very friendly and competent, reception staff at the concierge and restaurant staff, everyone was delighted to take a moment to tell you their recommendations and advice.
The rooms

I stayed in a suite of a room, which looked like a small apartment in San Francisco. He was sitting just at the corner of the building so that the living room had a view in two directions. The living room included a comfortable sectional as well as an office, and was an ideal place to relax and recharge between the adventures in town.
The bed and the bath were in a short corridor, which added to the space of the room. I appreciated the way in which the bathroom, with its pencil floor, made a sign of the original character of the building, but how vanity and shower were more modern.

I loved the room, which looked like the most elegant friend’s friend’s room. Again, the window offered a fun view of the city, and the bed was comfortable and welcoming.
Most of my recent bay stays have been in Napa, where hotel prices have soamed in recent years. I appreciated that my stay at the Royal Sonesta Clift felt like a large and much more feasible alternative to a weekend of Wine Country.
Dinner at the Clift

The Art Deco cocktail fair in the hotel of the hotel, the Rooma room, bears the name of its historic paneled bar. In the recent overhaul of the hotel, this space obtained a refreshment which has kept these details Art Deco and added modern touches which makes it elegant and glamorous at the same time. The bar uses Garden ingredients on the Hotel rooftop, and you can taste the honey of its apiary in its artisanal craft cocktails.
The Bar Food menu had enough options (including a selection of desserts) to make it an easy dinner victory. The Séquoia room really looks like a beloved local location for the San Franciscans, with lucky visitors in the mixture.
The clift also houses Fredericks coffee. Coffee is only open in the morning for breakfast. Eating there wanted to enter an old New York lain, but with new California options.
