After all, it was part of the original plan for the Disney-MGM Studios theme park: a working production studio with its own animation building for Walt Disney Animation Studios.
Over the years, these working studio concepts have faded into a more traditional theme park mold, with soundstages originally intended for film and television production serving instead as traveling exhibits allowing fans to get a behind-the-scenes look at the latest Disney film. But the original spark of Hollywood Studios lives on in its newest attraction, scheduled for completion in late summer 2026: The Magic of Disney Animation Studios.

The Magic of Disney Animation Studios was an Animation Courtyard attraction you may remember from the park’s early years, open from opening day in 1989 until 2015.
