What’s happening at Walt Disney World in February
EPCOT International Arts Festival
EPCOT’s first festival of the calendar year, the Festival of the Arts, continues through most of February. THE EPCOT International Arts Festival is a celebration of all things visual and performing arts, with colorful foods and drinks available for purchase, as well as photo ops inspired by famous paintings, scavenger hunts and the DISNEY ON BROADWAY Concert series.

The party is available during normal park hourswith all the entertainment, photo ops, etc. included with your entry. Limited Time Food and Drink Items are available for separate purchase. The DISNEY ON BROADWAY concert series, featuring performers from Disney Broadway musicals, has typically a few performances each evening. To guarantee a place at this evening’s free concert, you may want to consider booking a dinner concert package, which includes a dining reservation at an EPCOT restaurant and a reserved seating area for one of the evening shows.

The month of February also sees the continuation of Disney After Hours. On select evenings, Disney World welcomes guests to one of its parks – Magic Kingdom, EPCOT or Disney’s Hollywood Studios – in a setting paid event who offers reduced wait times for attractions, unique character encounters, and unlimited snacks like popcorn, ice cream novelties, and sodas.

Valentine’s Day
Love is in the air at Walt Disney World this February! If you visit the parks around Valentine’s Day (February 14), you will see several limited time treats around parks and resorts. These treats usually appear from early February and last until Valentine’s Day. Expect lots of candy and lots of red and pink food and drinks available for purchase!

Around Valentine’s Day, you will usually see some merchandise items available for purchase as well. Think about your limited edition Mickey and Minnie stuffed animals, t-shirts and pins. Valentine’s Day certainly isn’t a big holiday (it’s not like you’ll see an uptick in crowds, unlike the other holiday later in the month, Presidents’ Day), but it’s nice that Disney World is celebrating it with these limited-time deals.

Princess Half Marathon Weekend
There is no rest for those who are tired during the first two months of the year. Right after Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend (which traditionally takes place in early January), the Princess half marathon weekend. In the past, Princess Half Marathon weekend would take place the weekend after Presidents Day. The Princess Half Marathon weekend consists of a 5 km, 10 km and half marathon.

During this time, you will want to be aware of road closures and increased crowds. 5K and 10K mornings are usually fast enough for runners to be evacuated before the park opens, but the half marathon morning could see additional traffic if you’re trying to drop a rope park.

Weather in Walt Disney World in February
Disney World continues to be colder than normal in the month of February. This is usually the last month with “cooler” weather, but these cool temperatures can last until early to mid-March. Either way, if you’re visiting Disney World in February, you always want to check the forecast for cooler temperaturesespecially low temperatures early in the morning and late in the evening.

After all, February is still winter, so you want to be prepared in case you are at Disney World during a cold snap. This means bring a jacket (not your heaviest jacket, but something to add a little warmth), hats and gloves if your hands tend to get cold. You might think I’m joking, but just wait until you’re standing around the World Showcase Lagoon waiting for the fireworks. Trust me, it can get cold!

Tips for Visiting Walt Disney World in February
Be Aware of Presidents Day Weekend Crowds
Although February is generally a good time to visit with fewer crowds, the one major exception is Presidents Day Weekend and the days immediately following. Northeast schools typically have this entire week off, so many families will be visiting the parks during this time.

The weekend before Presidents Day and the days immediately following could be very busy in the parks. Another thing to note is that the Princess Half Marathon weekend will take place the following weekend. This means that the entire Presidents Day week is usually very busy with a double whammy: school holidays and half marathon weekend.

Discover the Arts Festival before it ends
The major seasonal event taking place at Walt Disney World in February is EPCOT International Arts Festival. I highly suggest taking time out of your day at EPCOT to check out the festival. Order specialty menu items at festival booths, admire artwork, and enjoy a performance from the DISNEY ON BROADWAY concert series. The festival usually ends around the third weekend of the month.
