A Disney World vacation is a luxuryclear and simple. Even the cheapest Disney hotels cost hundreds of dollars per nightand the cost of admission increases every year. Even though a Disney World vacation is very expensive, families come from everywhere to discover the most magical place on the planet and set aside money for months, even years, to make that dream vacation a reality.

For travelers looking to splurge and enjoy Disney’s high-end accommodations, there are enough options to empty your piggy bank. When it comes to choosing your resort hotel, Disney World’s luxury resorts offer the most amenities, comfort, and in many cases, proximity to the parks.

What makes an expensive Disney World hotel worth it?

  • Added amenities. Luxury resorts are where you’ll find fitness centers, spas, multiple on-site dining options (some even offering boutique dining), and more. Select luxury resorts feature Disney Vacation Club villas, club-level accommodations and more.
  • Proximity to Parks. By design, many Disney’s Deluxe Resorts are within walking distance of certain parks. The Grand Floridian, the Polynesian, and the Contemporary – three of the priciest hotels around – are all a short walk or monorail ride from Magic Kingdom.
  • Larger, more comfortable rooms. If you want your hotel room to be more than just a place to sleep between days at the parks, you might consider Value Resorts. Rooms at luxury resorts are often larger and offer more amenities. The villas will also be equipped with some kitchen basics, such as a microwave, coffee maker, etc.

Ways to Save on Disney World Accommodations

  • Shop for Disney promotions. Disney is almost always running some sort of promotion or sale. Although the rates I’m sharing are the posted rates, you may be able to receive a discount by booking directly through Disney.
  • Rent Disney Vacation Club points. Although joining the Disney Vacation Club is a significant expense, anyone can rent vacation points from members, usually for less than the cash cost per night.
  • Remember, you can visit any station during the day! Guests are welcome to visit any of the resort’s hotels – you don’t need to be an overnight guest to stroll the resort grounds and dine at the on-site restaurants. If the budget doesn’t allow for a luxury resort, but you still want to visit, plan an afternoon for lunch or drinks and enjoy the atmosphere.

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa

The flagship resort of Disney World, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spais the definition of opulence and extravagance when it comes to accommodation. Personally, I think that the fact that it is not on the Monorail loop helps give it a more serene vibe, as it is slightly less accessible for Magic Kingdom guests to ride and tour. That said, if you’re visiting Magic Kingdom, Wilderness Lodge is a short boat ride from the park and has great restaurants.

Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts

The Yacht and Beach Club hotel complexes are sister properties located next to each other, literally connected together by a corridor. They also share amenities including the swimming pool known as the Stormalong Bay. It’s one of the highest-rated pools on property, featuring a lazy river, sand-bottom floors, hot tubs, a slide, and more.
