Beware of Memorial Day Weekend Crowds
May can usually be a great time to visit Walt Disney World if you want to avoid crowds, as it falls comfortably between spring break and the summer vacation season. Most schools are still in session, although you may notice colleges closing for the summer and thus a slight increase in crowds as the month progresses. While the beginning of May typically sees fewer crowds, Memorial Day weekend is a different story.

Expect busy crowds from the Thursday or Friday before Memorial Day to the day or two following the holiday. If your budget allows, consider purchasing Lightning Lane Multi Pass to bypass the usual lines at parks like Magic Kingdom or Hollywood Studios, where you’ll likely feel the worst of the crowds.

Pack your bags and get ready for summer weather
May is the first month of the year when you can reasonably assume that the days will be warmer rather than cooler. When it comes to the weather in Florida, sSummer starts now – although you probably won’t feel that thick, fluffy air that you’re more likely to experience if you visit in August or September.

These tips are important all year round, but they really take on importance in the summer: stay hydrated, apply and reapply your sunscreen, take frequent breaks indoors, and consider taking a longer lunch break at the hotel.
